I’m excited and kicking! In two weeks, I am going to India’s financial capital, the powerhouse of Bollywood, the city that never sleeps – Mumbai!
Ever since I got married to a Mumbaikar, I haven’t had the chance to visit the country and meet the entire family. This, for the first time, is the moment I have been waiting for. But before all the jitters and eagerness, I will share with you how I got my e-visa to India.
For a brief background, I am a Philippines passport holder, who is a resident in the United Arab Emirates. For obvious reasons, I still need to apply for a visa although I am legally married to an Indian national. Getting the e-visa is nonetheless simple and convenient. I have read that it can be done directly to the Indian Embassy but I opted to get it from a legit travel agency, just a few meters away from my place. Here are the requirements:
1. One passport copy (valid at least 6 months before the date of travel)
2. One UAE visa copy (valid at least 6 months before the date of travel)
3. One passport size photo with white background (Recently taken – at least 3-6 months time)
4. One Emirates ID copy
5. Form from the travel agency which states my UAE and Philippine addresses, parents’ names and spouse name
6. Fee of AED 450/-
The e-visa processing usually takes 3-5 working days but mine arrived through e-mail and WhatsApp after 4 days. I was granted a MULTIPLE entry for 1 year which is decided by the Indian government.
Easy peasy. Is there anything that you want to know more? Leave something on the comment section below.
